Chinese Massage Therapy

Chinese Massage Therapy is a holistic approach to health care that aims to relax and revitalize the body and mind – to assist with managing day-to-day stress and anxiety – in addition to providing relief from physical ailments.

By stimulating the circulatory and nervous systems, Chinese Massage Therapy aims to bring balance to the body and mind by balancing Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) – or energy.

  • To understand the flow of Qi throughout the body, imagine water running through a pipe. If there is a kink in the pipe, the water cannot flow properly, and similarly if there is a blockage of energy flow in the body, it cannot function properly. Chinese Massage aims to address this imbalance.
  • The two most popular forms of Chinese Massage Therapy are Tui Na and An Mo.
  • Tui Na massage involves deep massage techniques that are applied over the body, focusing on the back and repetitive movements. Tui Na Massage can be used for treating ailments such as chronic pain, musculoskeletal problems like sprains and strains, arthritis, problems of the digestive system, liver and the spleen.
  • An Mo Massage incorporates a variety of Chinese Massage techniques which are applied to the entire body. An Mo Massage is used to balance, calm and relax the entire body.
